Our Approach

At playscheme, we aim for all children to have a joyful and enriching experience. We strive to create an environment where children can learn, grow, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment. Our philosophy is centered around fostering a sense of independence, creativity, and confidence in every child. We believe that by providing opportunities for children to explore their interests and try new things, they can develop a love for learning and a lifelong passion for adventure. We also recognise the importance of building meaningful relationships and creating a sense of belonging among our children, staff, and families. Above all, we are committed to creating memories that will last a lifetime and providing a positive and transformative experience for all who attend our camps.

We aim to expose children to an array of sports, creative experiences and knowledge-based activities. Visitors with a whole range of skills are invited in regularly to provide the experiences for the children, which differs to our staffs' expertise. Children are able 'have-a-go' with the activities we provide with the hope that they find a new hobby or skill which they can further build upon.

Our use of themed days are how we plan our activity timetables for each camp. We actively encourage families to tell us what they're children would like for us to plan as well as going with the fan-favourites. Don't worry if you don't think your child will like the key focus of the day, there are many other activities to do which are unrelated to the theme.

What does a typical day look like?

We open our doors at 8am and have arrivals usually between 8 - 9.30am. The main theme's activities start after 10am to allow all children to take part if they wish. If the activity is done in groups, we separate the children either based on age or by experience. We then create a timetable to allow smaller groups of children to enjoy the main activity at different parts of the day.

Lunch is usually around midday. Where possible, we eat together and take a breather from the day's activities.

Other games and activities take place from 1pm after we've tidied up which will go on until 4pm.

Children have free choice throughout the day with different areas of the hall set up. We rotate board games which we teach the children, vary the arts/crafts materials we have available and have some form of Lego/construction area set up.  Our Pool table, air hockey and table football are very popular throughout the day. Most importantly, we take the children's direction as much as possible to set up what they'd like to do.

We do not have iPads or other forms of technology freely available. We often put a short-film on the projector which helps to settle children first thing in a morning and at the end of the day so that we can ensure all children have their belongings.
